DAR (Dones Artistes Rurals)
I am very excited to be part of this project, DAR – (Female rural artists), with huge thanks to Tectonica Cultural. Over the next couple of months we’ll be reflecting on our creative practice and identifying needs. We will be working collaboratively to inspire and develop ideas. I am looking forward to seeing what happens along the way.
Having lived and worked in rural Catalunya for a decade, my work has been affected by the natural environment, the changes and threats. This has enhanced the use of transient materials and the creation of a more sustainable pratice. It has also offered an external performance space to shout, play, rant, run, cry and scream. An insignificant body in this huge expanse of wild forest, I know my place.
The DAR project offers me a new network of female creatives to explore ideas, share information and skills, which is very exciting.
What we lose in the fire
A violent stab of loneliness,
swimming between spaces,
fuelling an insatiable hunger,
then out of the darkness
I return to the forest
Responding to your whispers
Intrigued by the imposed audio limitations placed upon your artist group, I can assure you that your whispers are coming through ‘loud and clear’.
Observing you on your ‘island’, your cell, I can connect with you from my ‘natural soapbox’ (a large protruding rock within the valley). I will respond with a ‘rant’ with a self-imposed limitation that it should come from this place. However, the quest for clarity of thought, of word, of action risks going unseen.
