‘Still Life, I.’

This new work, entitled “Still Life, I’ is framed with an oval mount and is now part of Tros d’Art, the new art library at Móra la Nova Library. It uses charcoal on bamboo paper and is a depiction of dead fig leaves and animal skull. These were foraged and found within a kilometre of the studio here in Riba-roja d’Ebre. The work was completed live at the wonderful event in Ascó celebrating the second Rural Women’s day of the Ribera d’Ebre.

Tros d’Art is a wonderful initiative by the Ajuntament de Móra la Nova and CERE, allowing people to borrow artworks to enjoy at home, just like books. The Móra la Nova Town Council and the Centre for Studies of the Ribera d’Ebre (CERE) present Tros d’Art, the artwork library of the Ribera d’Ebre.

Based at the Ateneu of Móra la Nova, you’ll find a space called ARTERIA, where around thirty works by local artists are on display. You can visit during library hours, choose an artwork, take it home for a one-month loan, and after that month, return it and borrow another one — just like a regular book library.

In this way, the initiative helps to promote local artists and their works, while also giving residents the chance to enjoy artworks “temporarily” in their own homes. There is also the option to purchase the work from the artist.
