‘Sense Comissariat – una exposició conversacional’ at Lo Pati – Centre d’Art Terres de l’Ebre (on until 31st of May 2026). Friday’s inauguration was full of energy, encounters and conversation. I feel truly honoured to have a work included in this exhibition.
Dual (2006), created in Cyprus, is part of the show. Made with cactus spikes on canvas and fake leather, it carries a very different version of myself – my 29-year-old self – into the present moment.
Since being invited to exhibit at Lo Pati, this work and I have been in conversation. It speaks of change, pivot, adaptation, resilience. Of duality, language, material, nature. Of sensuality, hardness, durability – of life and death. It speaks of ageing.
And I speak back to it – with fondness and care. Now, within this exhibition at Lo Pati, it enters into new conversations – with other works that echo spikes, softness and resistance, marks that hold their own tensions and dualities.
Threads run throughout the space – through colour, form and material – carrying a shared sense of urgency and energy. What began as a simple limitation in size set by the director has unfolded into something much more: a dialogue with the self, with others, and with the world.
