Affirmation, 2006. Performance to video, sculptural installation, work on canvas.
Affirmation presents a series of works developed for installation in the newly renovated Bargate Monument Gallery in collaboration with ‘a space’ organisation. The multifaceted installation includes a large scale projection of recorded performances to camera which document the artist’s attention to the face. A large table top with half consumed bodily casts and accompanying ‘Misplaced’ photographic print and sculptural appendages all take their start from a heaven and hell parable focusing on consumerism, individualism and looks to question the very system in which the artworks are produced, exhibited and collected.
