This month I had the honour of showing ‘Descent’ on the large cinema screen in Riba-roja d’Ebre as part of the Riu d’art Street Fest, along with three other fascinating video works. One by artist Marianna O’Reilly, with whom I performed a live happening in the village streets to showcase the video screenings.

The Riu d’art Street Fest is organised by the Riba Rocks not-for-profit cultural association and has the support of the Riba-roja d’Ebre Town Hall and the Diputació de Tarragona.

This work explores the delicate balance between despair and redemption. Through fragmented moments of oral dialogue and emotional narration, the work captures a journey of descent and renewal. The video aims to evoke the tension between ruin and rebirth. As symbols of destruction and rituals of purification are displayed, they represent many images that blur the lines between reality and abstraction. It invites spectators to embark on a journey of descent.
