‘Tarannà’. The word itself evokes essence. It refers to one’s way of being – a distinct identity, the personal imprint we leave on everything we do—a blend of attitude, sensitivity, and style that makes each of us unique. In this work, María José Torres Torres and Sarah Misselbrook delve into their inner worlds. It is an intimate journey during which emotions – sometimes repressed and long hidden behind their true essence – rise to the surface.
Along this shared path, they embrace these feelings and move forward together, ultimately discovering one of the most powerful forces of all: love. In doing so, they rediscover their ‘Tarannà’—an inner strength that no longer acts as a burden, but rather sets them free.

Tarannà is a collaborative project created with María José Torres Torres as part of Parelles Artístiques, an initiative that brings together artists with and without experience of mental health services to create shared artworks. Through a process of conversation, exchange and creative exploration, we developed a work exploring inner emotions, personal identity and the strength found in accepting ourselves and connecting with others. The project celebrates art as a space for expression, understanding and shared experience. The work is part of the touring exhibition and is presented at the following spaces.
