Natura i Art

‘Els Ports, Nature i Art’ is a project that works to promote respect and conservation of the natural environment. At a crucial historical moment, both because of the questioning of the economic growth model and because of the serious environmental crisis resulting from global warming and climate change.

I had the honour of presenting a new, site-specific sculptural installation as part of the 9th edition of Natura i Art, in this stunning nature reserve.

The work entitled ‘Pause, Kneel, Reflect’, uses handmade charcoal, ash, lime and clinical white cushions. A cast of my feet, sullied with charcoal, with burned books all placed in a circular formation surrounded by forest and overlooked by a large rock.

‘An installation where the mountain embodies a cathedral and the rock serves as an altar. Through live spoken word, the artist will foster moments of introspection and unity, focusing her work on the opposition between light and darkness, or life and death.’

A live spoken word piece presented to the public focussed on what remains.

Organised by Lo Pati Centre d’Arte de les Terres de l’Ebro and the EPNiA Cultural Association, the project curated by the artist Sergi Quiñonero proposes a circular walk of 3.3 km. During the tour, visitors enjoyed a guided tour of five ephemeral art installations with a reflective dialogue between art and nature. The works were designed to seek the complicity of the public, promote interaction and make the environment known through the unique perspective of each of the authors.
