penitente yo, 2023. Live performance, El Pinell de Brai for ‘Ermita 2.0’.
The performance is a drawing from and of the body. Using handmade natural materials including juniper charcoal, stones and olive charcoal. I am in a kneeling position in a submissive way to create a drawing onto white material which covers my body. Clinical white canvas is ruined by burned charcoal and dust, in the form of a symmetrical drawing. The material is an extension of the surface of the body, an extended skin to make a stain and ruin, in a attempt to create something beautiful. Without a preconceived design or image in mind, I try to create something live and ‘of the moment’ in a site-specific way.
