Resiliente, 2023. Live performance for Cultura Verda at Medol Contemporary Arts Centre.
The performance ‘Resilient’ for ‘Cultura Verda’ began with a spoken word reading, paying homage to the fruitless fig tree. Utilising natural materials such as fig leaves and branches, Me arrodillé dentro de una estructura de rama, meticulously breaking the leaves into dust. This act carried a spiritual essence, accompanied by the resonant sound of crumpling leaves, symbolising themes of death and destruction. Drawings on paper hung in the gallery space, which the artist removed, destroyed and added to pile of ruins. The ‘signature’ uniquely marked the end of this transformative experience, followed by audience participation until all drawings were destroyed.
